You’ll ascend through rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert zones before summiting Uhuru Peak. With an extra acclimatization day and gentle trail gradient, the Marangu Route offers comfort, challenge, and breathtaking views. Day by day itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Tanzania – Settle In at Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Arusha. Relax, meet your guide, and attend the trek briefing.

Day 2: Trek to Mandara Hut – Into the Rainforest

Drive to Marangu Gate and start your trek through thick rainforest. Reach Mandara Hut, where blue monkeys and forest birds thrive.

Day 3: Trek to Horombo Hut – Enter the Moorlands

Climb through heath and moorland zones with views of Mawenzi Peak. Reach Horombo Hut and enjoy panoramic mountain vistas.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day – Horombo Hike

Hike toward Kibo Hut and return to Horombo. This rest day aids altitude adjustment and improves your summit success rate.

Day 5: Trek to Kibo Hut – Alpine Desert Crossing

Cross the lunar-like saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. Arrive at Kibo Hut and prepare for your midnight summit push.

Day 6: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak & Back to Horombo

Start early and ascend to Gilman’s Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak. After summiting, descend via Kibo back to Horombo Hut.

Day 7: Descend to Marangu Gate – Celebrate Your Climb

Complete your descent through lush rainforest. Celebrate at Marangu Gate with your summit certificate, then return to Arusha.

Day 8: Departure – Farewell Tanzania

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for departure. Optional safari or beach extensions are available for continued adventure.
